Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about RentRequests.
Is RentRequests free for renters?
Yes — posting a rental request and messaging landlords who contact you is free.
How long does it take to find a rental?
It depends on your location, budget, requirements and how many landlords are currently active on RentRequests. We're in public beta and don't promise a specific timeframe.
Is my personal information safe?
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we follow UK GDPR. Your contact details are hidden from public view; registered landlords or agents may use an access token to reveal the details you supplied.
What if I get a message I don't like?
Ignore it or reply politely. There's no pressure to accept any offer, and you can report anything abusive.
Can I edit my request after posting?
Yes — go to 'My Requests', open the request and update it anytime.
Can I delete my request?
Yes — from 'My Requests' you can delete a request; this removes it and any related conversations.
What if a landlord is rude or inappropriate?
Report them. We investigate reports and can remove accounts that breach our terms.
Do I need to buy tokens?
No. Renters don't need tokens — landlords and agents use them to reveal renter contact details.
Does RentRequests verify landlords or offers?
No. RentRequests is a matching and introductions platform. We don't verify identities, credentials or offers. Always do your own checks and never pay before viewing the property and signing a tenancy.
Can I negotiate with a landlord?
Yes. You're free to discuss rent, deposit, move-in date and terms directly with them.
